WGIS Committee seeking new member The Women & Girls in Sailing Committee of Yachting Victoria are seeking an enthusiastic person with skills in areas of website and communications to join our committee. The WGIS committee is dedicated to encouraging more Victorian females to participate in sailing, whether it is in keelboats, dinghies, catamarans, powerboats, officiating or any other role. As a sub-committee of Yachting Victoria we have made significant progress in promoting and raising the profile of women and girls in sailing and we now need assistance to share what is happening in yacht clubs across all forms of media to build interest and engagement in our sport. Women and Girls in Sailing Club Representative (WGIS CR) The role of WGIS CR is open to either men or women and is somebody who works to positively promote female friendliness at your club. We hope your club will nominate a member to the WGIS Club Representative role. The nominated person should be passionate about sailing, a good communicator and will act as the initial contact point for prospective and existing female sailors. Laafin from Phillip Island to Port Phillip for maiden Festival of Sails: After November 30, entrants for next January’s Festival of Sails will be no longer be able to take advantage of the $50 early entry discount, and will sadly miss the chance to win a holiday for two to tropical Fiji after this Sunday’s early bird cut-off.
