The Latest from Women and Girls in Sailing

The racing is over for 2016, but there is still much to celebrate for our most successful Port Phillip Women’s Championship Series to date. Bring your crews and friends along to join us for the Awards Presentation evening on Friday 27 May 6pm at Royal Brighton Yacht Club, to acknowledge our podium winners and recognise the participation and endeavour of all. Get your nominations in for Women & Girls in Sailing Local Hero of the Year ASAP We are asking each Women & Girls in Sailing Club Representative to nominate at least one person at their club for this award. Please find attached the nomination form.

The Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) is the only all-female keelboat regatta in Australia and it attracts upwards of 160 participants from around Australia and overseas. Run at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron over three days on the June Queen’s Birthday long weekend, the regatta also includes an education lecture series every Wednesday evening in May to develop both competitors' and guests' skills in all areas of sailing. Everyone is welcome at the lecture series.

The regatta includes two divisions scored across AMS, IRC and PHS and also includes class racing. Awards include owner-skipper, best novice helm, most improved, sportsmanship and an award for showing particular endeavour during the competition.

The AWKR Committee can help you find a boat to sail on, as an individual or as a full crew.
