YV "Local Heroes" for Women On Water

YV Women and Girls in Sailing have announced a new initiative called 'Local Heroes'.  A Local Hero, in this initiative, is someone who supports and encourages the involvement of Women and Grils in Sailing.

It could be someone who:

- Makes a difference and inspires Women and Girls to get involved in Sailing,
- Works tirelessly to encourage them to take up the sport,
- Encourages learning new skills,
- Helps and encourages them to get into racing,
- Is a female role model

Your nominated hero can be any age, a dinghy sailor, keelboat sailor, Race Officer, Commodore, Committee Members, Flag Officers, Volunteers, trainers, coaches, people who help out with races or social organizers.  Anyone that you recognize that lends a hand and makes an effort on a regular basis to promote and increase participation of women and girls in sailing.  We know most of these will be female but we want to know about the guys too.

All you have to do is send a photo of your ‘Local Hero’ with a short story to MaryBryantH27@gmail.com (Georgie Mitchell).  All photos will then be posted on HBYC & HBYC WOW web pages & Facebook pages, HBYC enews & newsletter, Women and Girls in Sailing Web page and enewsletters (both YV and WGIS).  The YV Women and Girls in Sailing Committee will also announce the best local hero at the Yachting Vic awards night.

Looking forward to hearing about our 'Local Heroes'

Note:  The HBYC WOW group as so many heroes, because of this I have asked you to send to me first and I will collate and send onto YV.
